Terra Drive Systems Inc. Holds Ride & Drive Event to Debut the New Prototype Featuring Tracks POWERED BY Mud Hog Rear Drive System on a Combine Harvester
Brookston, IN, October 6, 2016– Terra Drive Systems (TDS Drive), a leading designer and manufacturer of steerable hydraulic drive systems for on- and off-highway motorized specialty equipment, held their first Ride & Drive event today. The focus of today was bringing attention to their new prototype featuring TDS adapted powered rear tracks on a combine harvester. The event was from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm and included a company presentation, the choice of riding or driving a combine featuring the TDS adapted powered rear track system, lunch, a raffle, Mud Hog giveaways, and the chance to talk with the engineer who designed this concept, local Purdue graduate, Kassie Coverdale. The guests also had the chance to speak directly with the local farmer, Danny Brettnacher, who currently is harvesting with the new system and was the one providing the Ride & Drives. He has thoroughly enjoyed testing the new TDS prototype and aptly said, “This takes combining to a new level.”
The TDS adapted powered rear track system took some real ingenuity from their engineering department. Kassie Coverdale came up with the modifications that were needed to make all of this possible. The TDS adapted tracks provide OEM steering capabilities and an extremely smooth ride. The prototype equipped with the TDS adapted rear tracks even has the ability to go through and harvest in standing water, which is not possible with just rear wheels.
Phillip Joy, President & CEO of TDS, lead the presentation and had this to say about TDS and the new technology they are bringing to farmers.
“When a combine can harvest a wet field, with standing water, not get stuck or leave tire ruts, then you really have done something good for the farmers.”– Phillip Joy (President & CEO of TDS)
